TAX3761 will be your second year of exposure to Tax. The volume is slightly greater than TAX2601 and, at first glance, there seems to be some duplication of a lot of the TAX2601 content. This is simply because the topics are now integrated with the new topics – for example, capital allowances (covered in TAX2601) are now integrated with value-added tax (a new topic) and the definition of gross income (covered in TAX2601) is now extended to include the taxation of fringe benefits (a new topic). Other new topics that are introduced include estate duty, donations tax and farmers etc.

A lot of students study Tax very theoretically and spend a lot of time memorising it, but it’s actually one of the most practical of your subjects - calculating and submitting tax returns for yourself and others is a highly sought-after skill, and very practical in nature!

Our lectures are great at explaining why each of these sections exists, and how to work with them. Yes, there are a lot of Tax Act sections you need to know, but if you understand what they’re intended to achieve, it makes your studying a lot easier.

We also go through two past exams, showing you how to read, plan and answer your questions.
